Vercel: Empowering Developers with New Tools and Features
Are you curious on what is next for the WEB? — this is the title from Vercel Ship presentation.

This is my personal opinion and latest feature overview, not a marketing material or promotion of Vercel.

I am using Next.js & Vercel products for software development needs. And I am always curios about latest feautures, we can get from platform we use.

Vercel is a popular platform for serverless deployments that provides developers with a powerful set of tools and features for building and deploying web applications. Recently, Vercel has introduced several new tools and features that are aimed at improving developer experience and making it easier to build high-quality applications. In this article, we will explore some of the latest features and updates on Vercel.

Vercel have presented a lot of interesting futures. Let’s try to understand together all they created:

1. Vercel KV beta(05.05.2023) (Redis Cache): Vercel KV is a new key-value store that allows developers to securely store and retrieve data. This feature is integrated with the Vercel platform, making it easy to use and manage. With Vercel KV, developers can create and manage data stores directly from the Vercel dashboard.
2. Vercel Blob waitlist(05.05.2023): Vercel Blob is a new feature that allows developers to store and retrieve large binary objects. This feature is useful for storing and serving media files, such as images, videos, and audio files. With Vercel Blob, developers can easily manage large files and serve them to users with low latency.
3. Vercel Postgres beta(05.05.2023): Vercel Postgres is a new managed PostgreSQL database service that is fully integrated with the Vercel platform. With Vercel Postgres, developers can easily create and manage databases, as well as perform backups and restores. This feature makes it easy to use a relational database with Vercel. The main feature announced, you can access database directly in your Next.js code.
   Don’t forget to keep your connection secure and make it only server side.
4. Vercel Secure Compute: Vercel Secure Compute is a new feature that allows developers to securely connect to any tool or backend without sacrificing developer experience. With Vercel Secure Compute, developers can securely access external resources, such as databases and APIs, without exposing credentials or sensitive data.
5. Vercel Firewall: Vercel Firewall is a new feature that helps keep deployments safe by providing IP controls. With Vercel Firewall, developers can define access control rules based on IP addresses, providing an additional layer of security for web applications.
6. Visual Editing: Vercel’s Visual Editing feature enables CMS edits directly from the UI, providing a more efficient way for developers to edit their content. This feature is integrated with Vercel CMS, making it easy to use and manage.
   Sounds interesting on one end, but brings a lot of discussions. Marketing and designers are not always the best people to define, how certain things should look like. There are best practices, technical requirements and key development concepts, which are developers responsibility.
7. Vercel Spaces: Vercel Spaces is a new feature that helps enterprise teams scale software quality with conformance and code owners. With Vercel Spaces, developers can create and manage spaces for their teams, define access controls, and set up continuous integration and deployment.
8. Next.js 13.4: Vercel’s Next.js 13.4 release includes several new features, including App Router STABLE, Next.js Cache, Server Actions ALPHA, and Turbopack BETA. These features make it easier for developers to build high-quality applications with Next.js and Vercel.
